Uch Power 586MW Gas Plant Technical Due Diligence

Uch Power 586MW Gas Plant Technical Due Diligence

Uch Power 586MW Gas Plant Technical Due Diligence

Project Overview

The Uch Power Plant is a critical combined-cycle baseload generation asset located near Dera Murad Jamali in Balochistan, Pakistan. The plant utilizes a configuration of three gas turbines, three heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and one steam turbine.

A unique technical feature of this facility is its fuel source: it is engineered to burn low-Btu, high-nitrogen natural gas supplied directly from the nearby Uch gas field. This fuel configuration requires specialized, large-volume combustors and gas processing systems to manage the low heating value of the gas and control emissions. Technical due diligence was required to evaluate the plant’s operational health, thermal degradation, and NEPRA compliance.

Project Specifications

  • Installed Capacity: 586 MW combined-cycle power plant (CCPP).
  • Configuration: Three gas turbines, three heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), and one steam turbine.
  • Primary Fuel Source: Sourced with low-Btu, high-nitrogen natural gas via a dedicated pipeline from the Uch gas field.
  • Geographical Location: Dera Murad Jamali, Balochistan, Pakistan.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Subject to performance standard audits and operational benchmarks under NEPRA regulations.

OMS Scope of Services

  • Performed technical due diligence assessing the operational health, asset risks, and regulatory compliance for the 586 MW Uch Power plant.
  • Conducted detailed physical inspections of gas turbines, HRSGs, steam turbines, and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Audited historical maintenance records, outage logs, and plant availability trends.
  • Evaluated thermodynamic performance parameters and analyzed compliance with NEPRA operating standards.

Key Features

Very few industries in modern society face the number of challenges seen in the agriculture sector. Many external forces wreak havoc on the farm business, and all are completely out of the business owner’s control. Weather, drought, pests, and disease constantly hammer agriculture. They augment the standard risks any business faces and put significant pressure on historically thin profit margins. Add to this the current stagnation in the available workforce, which was significantly amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, and you have a menu of challenges that seem almost impossible.

Fully automated production lines
High-precision steel processing technology
Real-time monitoring and control systems
Energy-efficient operations
Scalable infrastructure for future expansion

Results & Impact

The project successfully delivered a high-performance steel manufacturing facility that significantly improved production efficiency and output quality. The integration of advanced technologies enabled seamless operations, reduced downtime, and enhanced overall productivity.
