NTDC System Stability & Cross-Trip Scheme Validation
NTDC System Stability & Cross-Trip Scheme Validation
Project Overview
Operating an interconnected high-voltage transmission grid requires coordinated protection and control schemes to prevent localized faults from cascading into widespread grid blackouts. The NGC (National Grid Company) Formerly known as National Transmission & Dispatch Company (NTDC) of Pakistan manages the country’s EHV and high-voltage transmission networks.
To protect the national grid during transient disturbances—such as sudden generator trips or major line overloads—NGC implements automated Cross-Trip and Under-Frequency Load Shedding (UFLS) schemes. These systems must rapidly disconnect pre-selected generators or loads to restore balance. Regular protection audits and dynamic stability simulations are technically critical to ensure these defense schemes operate selectively and with high speed.
Project Specifications
- Target Infrastructure: National extra-high voltage (EHV) and high-voltage transmission networks managed by NGC.
- System Integration: Encompasses coordinated protection interfaces across the NGC, DISCO, and GENCO networks.
- Defense Mechanisms: Automated Cross-Trip Schemes and Under-Frequency Load Shedding (UFLS) parameters.
- Engineering Objective: Prevent transient stability failures, frequency collapse, and cascading grid outages.
OMS Scope of Services
- Evaluated and validated the Cross-Trip and Under-Frequency protection schemes across the NGC, DISCO, and GENCO networks.
- Analyzed protective relay coordination parameters, response times, and trip logics.
- Conducted power system stability simulations under dynamic contingency scenarios to verify grid resilience.
- Formulated engineering recommendations to optimize system protection schemes.
Our Capabilities
Very few industries in modern society face the number of challenges seen in the agriculture sector. Many external forces wreak havoc on the farm business, and all are completely out of the business owner’s control.
Scope of Work
Our team delivered a full-cycle industrial solution, including:
Plant Design & Engineering
Comprehensive layout planning and structural design tailored for high-volume steel production.
Equipment Integration
Installation and configuration of advanced machinery, automated systems.
Process Optimization
Implementation of smart workflows to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
Quality Control Systems
Deployment of monitoring technologies to maintain consistent product standards.
Key Features
Very few industries in modern society face the number of challenges seen in the agriculture sector. Many external forces wreak havoc on the farm business, and all are completely out of the business owner’s control. Weather, drought, pests, and disease constantly hammer agriculture. They augment the standard risks any business faces and put significant pressure on historically thin profit margins. Add to this the current stagnation in the available workforce, which was significantly amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic, and you have a menu of challenges that seem almost impossible.
Results & Impact
The project successfully delivered a high-performance steel manufacturing facility that significantly improved production efficiency and output quality. The integration of advanced technologies enabled seamless operations, reduced downtime, and enhanced overall productivity.
